Amazon sells great baseball gear, from bats, to gloves, to clothes, to training aids. Amazon’s generous return policy also makes it super easy to return stuff. So if you crack a two-month old composite bat (which happens) or a training aid winds up not working as well as you hoped, you can just return it with no questions asked.
The prices on Amazon are also always competitive, which is comforting for someone like me who doesn’t always feel like spending the time to comparison shop or waiting months for a sale. When you buy on Amazon, you know you’re not getting ripped off.

6. Every Baseball Dad Needs a Hitting Net
Every baseball dad needs a quality hitting net for the backyard. This allows you to do tee work and soft toss with your kid without breaking your windows, or your neighbors’ windows.
Having a net for the backyard is especially important since so many teams don’t regularly do batting practice before games. With the net in the backyard, you can have your kid take a good 30 swings before you head out for a game.
Another great thing about the net is your kid can use it to practice when you’re not there with him, and you can bring it indoors when it’s raining and during the winter.
You can also use the net for:
- Pitching drills (combine it with a pitching pad so your kid can work on locating his pitches)
- Fielding drills (use the net as a first baseman)

In fact, I know some dads who seemingly agree to coach Little League just for the game balls they get to keep at the end of season. Little do they know Amazon sells boxes of quality “game balls” for less than you’ll find them at sporting goods stores.
I buy so many baseballs from Amazon that they recently asked me if I wanted to include the balls as a monthly subscription along with liquid detergent and my wife’s coffee creamer.
3. Camwood Training Bats Are Available on Amazon
I have to say I wasn’t an initial devotee of the knob-loaded Camwood bats. I saw kids using them, but resisted for my son until this spring when coaches pointed out he wasn’t swinging fully through contact.
I wound up getting both the traditional Camwood bat, along with the one-handed trainer. We use the one-hander almost every time we practice, and the traditional one has been relegated to the basement. That’s not to say we won’t rediscover it once he gets a little stronger, but if you’re on the fence about which one to get, go one-hander.
2. Lizard Skin Bat Grips Are Great Birthday Gifts
I initially resisted buying Lizard Skin for my son’s bat, naively assuming that his $350 bat must come with an adequate grip. Wrong I was! 1. Buy Your New Baseball Glove on Amazon
You might not think you need a new glove, but trust me you do. If you’re like me, your glove was old. It was from high school. My sad glove (see picture below) actually had 1980s All Star George Brett’s signature on it.
Consider buying a catcher’s mitt. As your kids get older, they naturally throw much harder. You’re going to want a catcher’s glove to save your palm from major trauma, especially if your kid pitches.
