A Florida baseball dad totally flipped out and sucker punched an umpire during a high school game.
The umpire, a 63-year old disabled veteran, was knocked unconscious by the blow (but thankfully appears to have escaped serious injury). And what brought on the punch? The umpire had earlier reprimanded this guy’s kid for disruptive behavior.
“I’m being arrested for defending my kid?” he said when being led away in handcuffs.
As someone who has been known to lose my cool at my sons’ games, this is a scary reminder of what can happen when we give in to emotion.
